ICC Progress Update
PHP-NukeWell, we have set off on our ICC25 mission and progress is going. It is a bit stop and start, but we are now getting to grips with the harder and more technical fights, both in 10 and 25 modes.

Currently, we are 8/12 in 10mans (Blood Queen, Valithria Dreamwalker,
Sindragosa and Lich King still to do) and 7/12 in 25mans (samne as above apart from Putricide who is proving to be a git in 25man).

Pictures of the deaths are below:

Lord Marrowgar

Lady Deathwhisper

Optional Frost Giant Kill for weekly instance quest

No pictures of Gunship Battle but we did it!!

Deathbringer Saurfang

Festergut

Rotface

Blood Council

Overall, the kills are getting cleaner and faster - normally when focus is good and energy is excellent!!

Focus will be on getting Putricide down and build on the odd learning tries we have had on Blood Queen and the Dragon.

Keep it up guys!!

Yogg Down
PHP-NukeWell, it took us a long time to get here and a lot of hard work, wipes and focus.

This just shows what can be done if we get the following:

1.  Sign ups so we can do 25man tries on the harder / more technical fights;
2.  Stable internet connections so we dont lose 1-2 people during the fight
3.  Real focus and effort from all 25 people plus the other 15 or so who wiped on the other learning nights - is a real git that some people who invested a lot more in this boss killing did not get to see the fight where we actually killed the git.
4.  Learning by all - I deliberately tried to keep people who did the Sunday tries in the same roles and positions, so we can keep the learning curve up. And was good to see people get up the learning curve faster than in previous weeks.

Screen shot of boss kill is below. I did Fraps the kill to an extent - I have not yet installed Adobe Premier on Windows 7 yet (it went on OKish but is running slow, suggesting there is some compatability issues as my Adobe Elelements version is XP age) so that may take a bit of time to do.

This wont be a one off kill. I want to kill him again so people who helped learn this fight but did not expereince the kill last night get to see it again. So keep signing up and dont slack  :)

Good job and lets keep activity levels high on all 3 nights now!

Ulduar Progress - General down
PHP-NukeWell, we have some more 25man progress. Did a good clear of early bosses on Thursday so we were hopeful of having a good raid evening for General Monday, after a few General tries on Sunday night if all went to plan.

Sunday went very well and we got Mimiron down fast. I did not manage to fraps the Mimiron 1st kill so fraps the 2nd kill
- here is the link:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b_30Z9Uv_lY

We then killed the others and moved on to General V. Focus on General V was excellent. We got him to 24% first try with some dead and he hit enrage. 2nd try saw him dead.

The kill video does not show me in a great light (a good guide of what NOT to do as a Priest on General Smile ). I was going to edit out  mid bit but would show a boss health sudden drop from 45% to 24%. Video is here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0DDRoJdVprY
We now need to push for Yogg S and need as many Monday sign ups as possible. So lets get sign ups maxed so we can do more than just learn phase 1 againSmile

Cheers

Ulduar Progress Update
PHP-Nuke
Hokhealee wrote:
Well, the last week has shown we can focus and keep progression going in Ulduar. Last week, 10man activity picked up a bit and we got Mimiron and General V down. This provided a better understanding of the encounters for 25man and officers put a lot of time, effort and thought into how to do this. This proved to be so useful on Monday when after wiping badly the previous week on Mimiron with phase 2 healing being just hideous, we adopted a more healing centric strategy for phase 2, more spreading out and low and behold, we got him down 2nd try.
We then went to look at General V and spent 2 hours learning the process here, with the final try of the night getting him to 43% within enrage timer target - mana is horrible here and only having 8 mana spawns is a nightmare. But we showed we had focus and skill to start to master the encounter - is just careful use of mana and knowing the rotations. And a lot of focused interrupting!!! Good job all and I can now say a clearance of Ulduar 25 (and Ulduar 10) will be soon on the cards Gratz to all, esp Fry and Elata who have put a lot of effort into RL, learning tactics and helping get progress moving on these fights. Ulduar Progress Update
PHP-NukeWell, been a while since we formally updated progress.

Ulduar raids have kicked off and with a bit of practice, we managed to get down first 4 bosses without too much grief. Like always, our kills either go smoothly by the book or become the very messy "Shadesway" kills we have come to know and love. Speed of kills on the first 4 bosses has increased and one-shotting initial bosses is now expected rather than hoped for!!

Kill video with first 4 encounters is now up and held here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=npxaMn1BpGQ

Progress on bosses in the Antechamber has also been good. We have killed all 3 now (some screenies below) and have Fraps some of the kills (only Auriaya is complete - Fraps was not running for Kologarn and the kill footage of Assembly of Iron sort of only captured the end, with not many people alive Smile ). Full videos will go up when I get enough Fraps footage to make good videos.

We have now started on the Keepers and the level of difficulty goes up accordingly. We did our first tries here on Hodir last week and got him to 13% before the enrage timer kicked in. Some tweaks on NPC defrosting, removal of FR gear apart from the tank and some more practice on positioning will see him down. Freya and Thorim should also go down OK as we have done them on 10man and know the routine - just need to learn it with bigger numbers!

Mimiron is the biggest challenge likely to face us in the short term and our main goal is to get him down to allow access to the fional 2. We can do this as along as sign ups and focus is good, and gratz to everyone for putting all the hard work in so far.

Will keep this updated a bit more and enjoy the videos / pics!

WoTLK - All Main Boss content cleared - Gratz!!!!
PHP-NukeHok wrote:
Well, I was really impressed Monday night when we got our focused heads on and finally hit an evening of no lag / dc's and downed Malygos.

The learning curve has been hard work on Malygos as it is such a random fight but the practice paid off and the gripping / stunning / positioning of the sparks really came together and made such a difference in phase 1.

Malygos went down and it was good to hear the shouts and celebrations on TS once again! For me, Naxx 25 was OK but did not have the challenge - the boss kills that have felt like 1st kills has been Malygos and Sart with 1 drake up (and we will start to progress to Sarth + 2 and 3  :)  ).

Photos of Malygos kill below

Keep signing up for raids as we need to gear up and prepare ourselves for Ulduar. The challenges there are bound to be harder and we need a good solid raiding base to start there.

But lets pat ourselves on the back and just acknowledge the achievement. This is Shadesway - we may take longer than the hardcore guilds to clear content but we go at our own pace, our skills are good and we have fun - that is what raiding is about for me.

SO cheers and lets get this all on farm so more people see the kills and we max ourselves out!!

Cheers

Shades Northrend progress update.
PHP-Nuke
Hello,

Its been a while since we updated the front page news but WOTLK is so much fun and there are so many things to do that we were kinda busy doing other stuff.
Anyway my vacation ended and I'm back to work so i finally made some time free to update our guild progress.

Here is a list of what we have cleared so far:

Vault of Archavon - 10/25 man.
Obsidian Sanctum - 10 man (No Dragons).
Obsidian Sanctum - 25 man with 1 dragon alive
Naxxrammas - 10/25 man.
Eye of Eternity - 10 man.

Atm we are concentrating on getting Heroic Malygos down, and we came close a few times but the lagg is immense and on this type of bosses its very hard to win the dps race,. so we hope in the next patch blizz would help us a bit with getting rid of the lagg.

Anyway here is a screenshot of our Naxx 25 clear:

Filling in the Gaps - Illidan & Kael'thas
PHP-NukeHok wrote:
Well, this week saw us fill in some gaps. Time caught up with us and we did not manage to do everyting we wanted to do before the patch.

We were aiming to down Illidan and Kael without the nerf and we got close but no banana. The kill on Kael did not feel like an achievement (nothing like Vashj or Archimonde) and Illidan saw us sail past phase 3 and 4 which we had only just started to learn pre-patch. Achievements but not the full blown satisfying ones we were hoping for.

However, with the patch, the nerf in boss health and the uplift in dps, threat and healing, raiding has gone easymode and the challenge has dropped. Farming for T6 is now easy and now will let us gear up for leveling through Northrend.

What is clear is we have achieved a lot. For a casual raiding guild that does not subscribe to hard core raiding policies and behaviour, we should be very pleased with ourselves. People have put a lot of hard work in, learn new bosses, improved their skills, and generally made Shades an enjoyable place to raid and live!!

WotLK will bring new challenges and a new chapter in raiding, and Shades will rise to the challenges of Northrend, including Naxx and other places.

Thanks for all the effort guys and unless we decide to put some energy into SWP (which I am not inclined to do, which is similar to AQ40 Twins and C'Thun + Naxx for me pre-TBC), this puts a line under TBC progress raiding. I am proud to have achieved what we have done (most of which is pre-nerf!!) and am proud to have raid led (along with Iodra and Orphes and others!!) the progress we have achieved!!  Salute to you all!!!

Lets rest up, enjoy IRL and WoW whilst leveling to 80, and start to build progress again at lvl 80.

Kill video is here for those who missed Illidan and Kael: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q-mJj6-3XdQ

Cheers and see you all in Northrend at lvl 80!!!

Black Temple 8/9 - Illidan Next!
PHP-NukeHokhealee wrote:
Well, last night certainly brought about the lows and highs of raiding with Shades  Smile

We have had 2 "end of raid - 1 hour left" and 1 dedicated evening on learning Illidari Council. Yesterday saw us show we had learnt the pull and we had a 40% try. We had the whole of this evening to beat the 6% try from last week and get them down.

The learning had showed this is a very demanding fight - it is a long, repetitive fight with little room for mistakes. The focus required to kill them is very high as people do need to do their jobs well and keep doing them well for 12-15mins.

We had a quick try and got them to 50%ish before we lost a tanking player. Next try, we looked so much better and they were going down. We lost some dps early on and some unlucky resists on healing interrupts(3 times Sad ) and with people dying, we had the most horrible 1% wipe ever (Spammo having died and been rezzed 3 times!!!!). We had done 117% of the damage required to kill them within enrage timer and just could not quite do it. Heads went down, frustration showed and disbelief on what had just happened was very evident........

We had a quick break, dusted ourselves off, put our positive heads back on, and repeated the fight. THis time, we got them down and delivered a very focused and comprehensive kill (albeit with 20 secs to go before enrage, due to us losing some dps early on!!!). The relief and feeling of success was immense!!!

Kill video is up here - it sort of summarises the feeling of the evening: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VZM9v3yQtTU

In November 07 when I picked up RL organisation and latterly doing the RLing on TS, we had set a goal of 6/6. 4/4, 5/5 and 9/9 before WotLK comes. I personally wanted to see Illidan before the expansion and last night this goal was achieved. We did a few tries on him and can do Phase 1 OK - we just need to learn up on phase 2 and onwards.

We have 8 weeks to kill Illidan and also fill in the gap of Kael that I know we can also do if we can fit it into the raid schedule.

Congrats guys and thanks for all the hard work put in over the last month - progress is going really well and we will down these final bosses before WolTK!!!  Keep signing up and lets do this.

Cheers

Black Temple 7/9 - Mother Down
PHP-NukeHok wrote:
When RoS went down a few weeks ago, we put into action "Operation Guild Bank Shadow Res Gear" master minded by Castix. All CMs prio-ed their people by activity and role, and we sorted out 25ish sets of SR gear to get people above 300SR buffed. This took a lot of effort and hard work by Castix plus all guildies who farmed the materials as needed.

We are sort of set for Mother Shahraz but just needed a good run of kills on earlier bosses to create the window to kill her. Our 3 day raid schedule meant that MH went on hold to ensure we had time.

The last weeks raiding was a bit of a mixed bag, Thursday saw us take down Bosses 1-3 in 1hr 45mins, setting a really good pace. We then wiped on Teron for 1hr 30mins due to construct issues. Sort of frustrating.....  We then went back in on Sunday and 1 hitted Teron, Bloodboil and 4th hitted RoS (only our 2nd kill on him/her). This gave us Monday for Mother........

We got a raid together and handed out SR gear to people who did not have 300SR but were available to raid. Was a bit touch and go, but we got there (thx to Castix's excellent gbank planning) and set off.

We took Mother Shahraz down 4th try, using experience from Lazycow and others to help guide us. We lost a few people via running and debuffs. but overall, it went quite smoothly. This shows that if people read the tactics, as a guild we prepare well (as showed by the SR gear worn by people), and we focus up, we can get reasonably fast progress.

Screenshot of the victory is here:

Kill video is here:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x0ofA1_KH2A

Sadly the POV is not ideal as I was stuck at the back of the caster group against a wall and focused on healing Lepi and Sak (so did not think about making a good movie tbh) so is a lot of back shots. But the feeling is there and is our first kill.

Congrats to everyone for a really good job and we are getting close to the goal of cleaning out BT before WotLK arrives.

Onwards to Illidari Council (which based on the tries after we killed Mother S, is a little bit harder  :(  )

Cheers
